Carolina Raptor Center announced today that The Cannon Foundation has made a $100,000 grant to support Our Quest: The Campaign for Carolina Raptor Center. The grant supports the construction of a new Raptor Trail that will build community and increase access to physical activity through nature play and outdoor recreation.

The Trail will feature age-appropriate environmental education and play opportunities for a variety of age ranges. This hands-on hiking adventure for guests is a centerpiece component of Our Quest. The project features a 0.8-mile trail system with aviaries for over 35 species of raptors and a state-of-the-art amphitheater. The Quest Adventure Center and new Raptor Trail will expand access to persons with disabilities by making these facilities ADA-accessible. On this new campus, the organization expects annual visitation to the Raptor Trail to grow from 40,000 to 100,000 annually.

“We are thrilled that The Cannon Foundation has joined Our Quest to help Carolina Raptor Center complete our campaign,” said Executive Director Jim Warren. “This support is critical in enabling us to build a campus that enriches the Charlotte region through increased accessibility, conservation and education.”
